    PROBLEMA: El cáncer de mama es una de las enfermedades oncológicas más frecuentes en todo el mundo, y a pesar de los avances basados en los tratamientos convencionales, como la cirugía, radioterapia y quimioterapia, la supervivencia de las pacientes todavía es limitada. Sin embargo, la inmunoterapia es un enfoque vanguardista en el tratamiento del cáncer de mamá. Lo que hace que los pacientes con dicha patología tengan nuevas alternativas para su tratamiento. OBJETIVO: Describir la inmunoterapia en el tratamiento del cáncer de mama. MÉTODO: Se desarrolló una investigación de carácter documental basada en literatura científica sobre la inmunoterapia en el tratamiento del cáncer de mama. RESULTADOS: La inmunoterapia en el tratamiento del cáncer de mama se basa en el aprovechamiento del sistema inmunológico del paciente para combatir las células cancerosas, aunque no todos los pacientes responden por igual y persisten desafíos, los avances brindan esperanza y opciones terapéuticas adicionales para aquellos pacientes que no se ven beneficiados con los tratamientos tradicionales. CONCLUSIÓN: Es necesario que se establezcan protocolos de atención estandarizados para la identificación, evaluación y tratamiento de pacientes con cáncer de mama que puedan beneficiarse de la inmunoterapia.

    PROBLEM: Breast cancer is one of the most frequent oncological diseases in the world, and despite advances based on conventional treatments, such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, patient survival is still limited. However, immunotherapy is a cutting-edge approach in the treatment of breast cancer. What makes patients with this pathology have new alternatives for their treatment. OBJECTIVE: To immunotherapy in the treatment of breast cancer. METHOD: A documentary research based on scientific literature on immunotherapy in the treatment of breast cancer was developed. RESULTS: Immunotherapy in the treatment of breast cancer is based on harnessing the patient's immune system to fight cancer cells, although not all patients respond equally and challenges remain, advances provide hope and additional therapeutic options for those patients who do not benefit from traditional treatments. CONCLUSION: Standardized care protocols need to be established for the identification, evaluation, and treatment of breast cancer patients who may benefit from immunotherapy.
