    La investigación tiene como intencionalidad construir una interpretación de las cinco eses (5Ss) en la optimización de las condiciones de trabajo y productividad en la agroindustria. Asumida desde la perspectiva cualitativa, el paradigma de investigación, interpretativo. El método, Teoría Fundamentada desde la perspectiva de Strauss y Corbin (2002). Las técnicas de recolección de información: entrevista en profundidad, memos y videos. El escenario empírico, las empresas Central Azucarero Portuguesa y Destilerías Unidas, en ambas se utiliza las 5Ss como herramienta de gestión. Las categorías finales o implicaciones conceptuales que emergieron fueron: Productividad (categoría central) Proceso de Implementación de las 5Ss, Bases para el Cambio Organizacional, Modelos de Gestión Complementarios y Clima Organizacional. La reflexión final se sustenta en que bajo la filosofía de las 5Ss la productividad es una concepción mental que busca mejorar continuamente todo lo que existe, basada en la convicción de que uno puede hacer las cosas mejor hoy que ayer y mejor mañana que hoy. Requiere esfuerzos sin fin para adaptar actividades económicas a condiciones cambiantes aplicando nuevas teorías y métodos. Es una creencia firme en el progreso del ser humano y su hacer en el sector agroindustrial.

    The research intends to construct an interpretation of the five S’s (5S’s) in the optimization of working conditions and productivity in the agroindustry. Assumed from the qualitative perspective, the paradigm of research, interpretive. The method, Grounded Theory from the perspective of Strauss and Corbin (2002). The techniques of information gathering: in-depth interviews, memos and videos. The empirical scenario, the Central Azucarero Portuguesa and Destilerías Unidas companies, both use the 5S’s as a management tool. The final categories or conceptual implications that emerged were: Productivity (central category), Implementation Process of the 5S’s, Bases for Organizational Change, Complementary Management Models and Organizational Climate. The final reflection is based on the fact that under the philosophy of 5S’s productivity is a mental concept that seeks to continuously improve everything that exists, based on the conviction that one can do things better today than yesterday and better tomorrow than today. New theories and methods will be applied. It is a firm belief in the progress of the human being and his work in the agro-industrial sector.
