Promoción de la lectura y la investigación desde la biblioteca: caso del Instituto Urracá, Santiago de Veraguas.

    Estudio exploratorio para determinar el papel de la biblioteca en la promoción de la lectura y la investigación y transformar la biblioteca en centro de recursos para el aprendizaje y la investigación. Incluye a los estudiantes de XI y XII grados, con un total de 1,764 alumnos. Se encuestaron 310 estudiantes por medio de un cuestionario.  El análisis de los resultados indica que la biblioteca no cuenta con programas para la promoción de la lectura, 71.6% de los estudiantes tienen el hábito de la lectura y más del 90% participarían de programas de este tipo. También, la orientación para la investigación es muy escasa en la biblioteca. El grupo elaborará una propuesta para la biblioteca escolar del Instituto Urraca.

    Exploratory study to determine the role of the library in the promotion of reading and research to transform the library into a resource center for learning and research. This study includes a total amount of 1,764 students that belong to XI and XII levels from Urraca Institute (high school). A questionnaire was applied to 310 students.  The analysis of the results indicates that the library does not have programs for the promotion of reading, 71.6% of the students have the habit of reading and more than 90% would participate in programs of this type. Also the orientation for research is very scarce in the library. The group will prepare a proposal for the school library of the Urraca Institute.
