    Las inversiones estatales juegan un papel vital en el desarrollo del turismo en la región. Al asignar recursos financieros a la infraestructura y los proyectos turísticos, es posible fortalecer la competitividad de los destinos, mejorar la calidad de la experiencia turística y crear puestos de trabajo en la industria. En este contexto, el propósito de este estudio consiste en examinar la contribución de la inversión pública al progreso turístico en el cantón de Puerto López durante el lapso comprendido entre 2016 y 2020. Para llevar a cabo este análisis, se realizó, en primera instancia, una revisión de la literatura existente acerca del tema. Fue llevada a cabo una búsqueda de estudios, informes y documentos pertinentes en diversas bases de datos académicas, revistas especializadas y portales gubernamentales en línea. Por otro lado, se efectuó una entrevista a la alcaldesa del cantón Puerto López, se examinaron las políticas y estrategias de fomento turístico que tanto el gobierno local como el gobierno nacional habían implementado en el cantón. Los principales resultados indican que las iniciativas turísticas llevadas a cabo por el Gobierno Autónomo Descentralizado (GAD) del cantón generan notables beneficios tanto para los habitantes como para el avance general del turismo. En consecuencia, se destaca la importancia de impulsar la inversión con el propósito de alcanzar un crecimiento turístico sostenible en el cantón de Puerto López.

    State investments play a vital role in the development of tourism in the region. By allocating financial resources to tourism infrastructure and projects, it is possible to strengthen the competitiveness of destinations, improve the quality of the tourism experience, and create jobs in the industry. In this context, the purpose of this study is to examine the contribution of public investment to tourism progress in the canton of Puerto López during the period between 2016 and 2020. To carry out this analysis, it was carried out, in the first instance, a review of the existing literature on the subject. A search for relevant studies, reports and documents was carried out in various academic databases, specialized journals and online government portals. On the other hand, an interview was carried out with the mayoress of the Puerto López canton, the policies and strategies of tourist promotion that both the local government and the national government had implemented in the canton were examined. The main results indicate that the tourism initiatives carried out by the Decentralized Autonomous Government (GAD) of the canton generate notable benefits both for the inhabitants and for the general advancement of tourism. Consequently, the importance of promoting investment is highlighted in order to achieve sustainable tourism growth in the canton of Puerto López.
