  The sense of geomorphology studies are evidenced to the extent that search for the understanding from the characteristics of the attributes that cover the surface of the Earth. Those attributes compete for the definitions and the necessities by the mankind, when the perspective is the practical application, or to the understanding of the evolutionary history from certain portions of the surface in different scales of time and space. The study for the time being presented is an essay of development of a theoretical model of recognition and characterization of the geomorphologic attributes and definition of a representation of the distribution of different facies of the relief in aspace unit configured by a hydrographic basin.

  O sentido dos estudos em geomorfologia é evidenciado à medida que se busca a compreensão das características dos atributos que compõem a superfície da Terra. Esses atributos concorrem para as definições e solicitações de usos pelos homens, quando a perspectiva é a aplicação prática, ou para a compreensão da história evolutiva de determinadas porções da superfície em diferentes escalas de tempo e de espaço. O estudo ora apresentado é um ensaio de desenvolvimento de um modelo teórico de reconhecimento e caracterização dos atributos geomorfológicos e definição de uma representação da distribuição das diferentes fácies do relevo em uma unidade espacial configurada por uma bacia hidrográfica.
