El siguiente artículo muestra lineamientos conceptuales de la Responsabilidad Social Universitaria en Latinoamérica (RSU) y su implementación en las escuelas de arquitectura de Quito – Ecuador. Además, se amplía el caso del proyecto de “Arquitectura con la Comunidad” en la PUCE para mostrar sus elementos conceptuales y metodológicos que ayudan a forma arquitectos socialmente responsables e intérpretes de sus realidades. Se trata de tener una mirada crítica que aporte a los procesos de mejora de las universidades y evidencie las experiencias realizadas en la región. También se muestra la natural articulación entre RSU y Aprendizaje en Servicio (ApS) en arquitectura y su importancia para fomentar la corresponsabilidad ciudadana y la importancia de la profesión en el medio. Se concluye con fortalezas y debilidades de su inserción y de la importancia de su relación con derechos humanos y ambientales para tener una RSU completa y significativa.
The following article shows conceptual guidelines for University Social Responsibility in Latin America (URS) and its implementation in the architecture schools of Quito - Ecuador. In addition, the case of the "Architecture with the Community" project at PUCE is expanded to show its conceptual and methodological elements that help form socially responsible architects and interpreters of their realities. It is about having a critical look that contributes to the improvement processes of the universities and evidences the experiences carried out in the region. It also shows the natural articulation between URS and Service Learning (SL) in architecture and its importance to promote citizen and profession co-responsibility in the environment. It concludes with strengths and weaknesses of its insertion and the importance of its relationship with human and environmental rights to have a more significant URS.
