Resumen de Palabras para el dolor: legibilidad, traducción, poder

El presente trabajo busca intervenir en una de las discusiones centrales del giro afectivo, la distinción entre afectos y emociones, especialmente en su relación con la cuestión del lenguaje. Para ello, aborda ciertos problemas relativos a la relación compleja pero crucial que hay entre el dolor y las palabras, poniendo el foco en el problema de la depresión. Necesitamos palabras para el dolor, pero las palabras también pueden profundizarlo. No solo se trata de que no faltan las palabras, sino de que hay muchas, en muchos casos compitiendo entre sí: no da lo mismo qué palabras usamos para nombrar el dolor. Con aportes de la tradición filosófica feminista y queer, y del campo interdisciplinario de estudios de traducción, el artículo plantea discusiones filosóficas y políticas sobre la pluralidad de las lenguas a la hora de nombrar, entender y experimentar el malestar, y sus implicancias para la distinción entre afectos y emociones.

The aim of this paper is to contribute to one of the central discussions of the affective turn, the distinction between affect and emotion, especially regarding its relationship to language.
To do so, it addresses some questions concerning the complex but crucial relationship between language and negative feelings, focusing on the problem of depression. We need words for pain, but words can also deepen it. There are words for pain, there are indeed too many, often in competition with each other: thus, it certainly matters which words we use to name our pain. Drawing on feminist philosophical traditions and the interdisciplinary field of translation studies, I will explore some philosophical and political discussions on the plurality of languages when it comes to naming, understanding, and experiencing negative feelings, and its implications for the distinction between affect and emotion.
