Resumen de Estado, retos y oportunidades dela inteligencia artificial para la detección y verificación de fake news

La proliferación de noticias falsas en redes sociales y medíos digitales representa un desafío creciente para la sociedad. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar hasta dónde puede llegar la Inteligencia Artificial aplicada a la detección de fake news, así como sus ventajas e inconvenientes.
Para ello, se realizó una revisión de la literatura científica publicada entre 2019 y 2023 y una búsqueda de ínfonnación complementaria en páginas web. Los resultados muestran que la evolución en este campo es cada vez mayor, pero la IA aún presenta algunos desafíos e, incluso, puede ser causante de la aparición de noticias falsas y desinformación. Las conclusiones destacan que la IA es una herramienta prometedora para la detección de fake news, pero que necesita un marco regulatorío adecuado y aún no es suficiente por sí misma.

The proliferation of fake news on social media and digital media represents a growing challenge for society. The aim of thís article is to analyze how far Artificial lntelligence can go in the detection of fake news, as well as its advantages and disadvantages.
To do this, a review of the scientific literature published between 2019 and 2023 and a search for complementary information on webpages was carried out.
The results show that the evolution in this field is increasing, but Al still presents sorne challenges and, even, can be the cause of the emergence of fake news and disinformation. The conclusions highlight that Al is a promising tool for the detection of fake news, but that needs to be regulated and it is not enough by itself for now.
