La obra de Fessler constituye un exhaustivo análisis sobre los cambios registrados en relación al delito y el castigo en Uruguay en el pe-ríodo 1907 (año de abolición de la pena de muerte) y 1934 (aprobación del segundo Código Penal en la historia del Uruguay). Para eso explora las transformaciones en materia de derecho penal, las propuestas de reforma penitenciaria y policial; también aborda el mundo delictivo a través de sostenido seguimiento de infracciones que permite el estudio por casos y la construcción de series estadísticas. Fessler works constitutes an exhaustive analysis of the changes registered in relation to crime and punishment in Uruguay in the period 1907 (year of abolition of the death penalty) and 1934 (second Penal Code in the history of Uruguay). The book explores the changes in criminal law, the proposals for prison and police reform; it also analyzes the criminal world through sustained monitoring of infractions that allows the study by cases and the construction of statistical series. It ́s a work that brings together a varied set of fields: social history of crime, justice and control institutions, the periodical press, among other areas.
