    En San Salvador de Jujuy, el Asilo del Buen Pastor, en tanto institución de encierro y disciplinamiento, jugó un rol muy importante en la corrección de la “conducta desviada” endilgada a quienes no se ajustaban a las pautas de lo socialmente “correcto”. En relación a esto, el accionar de las religiosas del Correccional habría tenido como objetivo central disciplinar a las mujeres marginales que transgredían las leyes y las “buenas costumbres”, buscando su futura incorporación al orden social adoptado por las elites. Este artículo propone indagar en torno al interés real –más allá de los discursos- de las damas de la elite por lograr la integración y el control social del sector popular femenino. Asumimos, por otra parte, una mirada crítica en relación al papel que jugó el Estado liberal en el plano social y, más concretamente, en lo que respecta al accionar del incipiente poder judicial en pos del orden social propugnado por los sectores dominantes

    In San Salvador de Jujuy, the Asylum of the Good Shepherd, considered an institution of confi nement and discipline, played a very important role in correcting the “deviated behaviour” committed to those who did not conform to the norms of what was considered socially correct. Regarding this, the actions of the religious women from the Reformatory facility would have had as a fundamental objective, to discipline the marginal women who transgressed the laws and the “good customs”, aiming towards their future incorporation into the social order adopted by the elites. Furthermore, this paper intends, on the one hand, to investigate the real interest– beyond the discourse - of the ladies of the elite to achieve the integration and social control of the female popular sector. We adopt, on the other hand, a critical viewpoint in relation to the role played by the liberal State in the social fi eld and, more specifi cally, the actions of the emerging judiciary system, in pursuit of the social order advocated by the dominant sectors.
