    El propósito de estas páginas obedece al deseo de reunir algunos datos — inéditos en parte —, que esbocen retazos de la historia mercedaria en tierras zamoranas. Presente la Merced desde el siglo XIII al siglo XIX, y la rama descalza desde el siglo XVII hasta nuestros días, por desgracia el transcurso de las centurias y las diversas circunstancias históricas han hecho desaparecer o mermar, en algunos casos, su patrimonio en la antigua y hermosa ciudad de Toro.

    The purpose of this work arises from the desire of gathering some data, which in part remained unknown, that would outline the remnants of Mercedarian history in the Zamora region. The Mercedarian order was present there from the 13th century to the 19th century, and the Discalced branch from the 17th century until now. Unfortunately, the passing of the centuries, together with various historical circumstances, have in some cases vanished or diminished its heritage in the ancient and beautiful city of Toro.
