    El objetivo del semillero fue analizar el mercado para fundas biodegradables elaboradas a base de polímeros naturales de maíz, mediante el levantamiento de campo para generar un informe sobre el estado del mercado. El semillero es parte del proyecto de investigación de la Universidad de Guayaquil FCI-017-2020 “Desarrollo de polímeros naturales con propiedades antimicrobianas”. La metodología usada fue de enfoque mixto, el tipo de investigación fue descriptiva-exploratoria, con diseño no experimental transversal. Las técnicas de recolección de datos fueron la encuesta y la entrevista semiestructurada, la encuesta fue aplicada a la población de Guayaquil mediante muestreo, la entrevista fue dirigida a gerentes de las tiendas de productos biodegradables. Los resultados evidenciaron que el 92% de los encuestados comprarían las fundas, pero solo el 29% pagaría el valor real del producto, además se evidenció que el 38% conoce el beneficio que proporciona al medio ambiente el uso de estas fundas. Mientras que, solo el 36% de la muestra conoce sobre la economía circular y su aplicación en beneficio del medio ambiente. Por tanto, se concluye que existe un mercado potencial y atractivo; sin embargo, se debe trabajar en la cultura del cliente hacia el medio ambiente.

    The objective of the seedbed was to analyze the market for biodegradable covers made from natural corn polymers, through field surveys to generate a report on the state of the market. The seedbed is part of the research project of the University of Guayaquil FCI-017-2020 "Development of natural polymers with antimicrobial properties". The methodology used was a mixed approach, the type of research was descriptive-exploratory, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The data collection techniques were the survey and the semi-structured interview, the survey was applied to the population of Guayaquil through sampling, the interview was addressed to managers of biodegradable product stores. The results showed that 92% of those surveyed would buy the covers, but only 29% would pay the real value of the product, it was also evidenced that 38% know the benefit that the use of these covers provides to the environment. While, only 36% of the sample knows about the circular economy and its application for the benefit of the environment.
