Resumen de Cuidado bucodental durante el embarazo: influencia en la salud materna y neonatal

  Las enfermedades bucodentales son afecciones infecciosas que pueden afectar la estructura de soporte dental y tener implicaciones en el embarazo. La prevención y tratamiento oportuno son cruciales, con énfasis en la educación para la salud durante el embarazo. Los objetivos del estudio incluyen comprender la importancia de prevenir estas enfermedades para evitar complicaciones como parto prematuro, bajo peso al nacer, preeclampsia, diabetes gestacional y hendidura orofacial en recién nacidos. La metodología empleada consistió en una revisión bibliográfica exhaustiva de bases de datos biomédicas, páginas web y la biblioteca de la facultad de ciencias de la salud y el deporte de Huesca. Se concluyó que la enfermedad periodontal puede tener graves consecuencias en el embarazo, incluyendo parto prematuro, bajo peso al nacer, preeclampsia, diabetes gestacional y hendidura orofacial en recién nacidos. Se destaca la importancia de la educación higiénico-dietética y el tratamiento temprano de patologías bucodentales preexistentes como medida preventiva más eficaz.

  Dental diseases are infectious conditions that can affect the dental support structure and have implications in pregnancy. Prevention and timely treatment are crucial, with an emphasis on health education during pregnancy. The study objectives include understanding the importance of preventing these diseases to avoid complications such as preterm birth, low birth weight, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and orofacial clefts in newborns. The methodology employed involved a comprehensive bibliographic review of biomedical databases, websites, and the library of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Sports in Huesca. It was concluded that periodontal disease can have serious consequences in pregnancy, including preterm birth, low birth weight, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes, and orofacial clefts in newborns. The importance of hygienic-dietary education and early treatment of pre-existing oral pathologies is highlighted as the most effective preventive measure.
