En este trabajo se analiza la caracterizaciónde Briseida en la novelaFor the Most Beautiful(2016) de Emily Hauser en comparación con las escasas fuentes de la Antigüedadque la mencionany cómootras autoras la(re)construyenen sus reescrituras contemporáneas. The aim of this article is to analyze the representation of Briseis in Emily Hauser’s novel For the Most Beautiful(2016), whilecomparingit with its classical hypotextsand other contemporary rewritings authored by women. Briseis’ feelings are barely mentioned in the Iliad, but these voids and gaps are the starting point for many women to (re)build this character, especially in its affective-sentimental dimension. Some of these novels are For the Most Beautiful, Achilles(2002) by Elizabeth Cook, The Song of Achilles(2011) by Madeline Miller, The Silence of the Girls(2018) by Pat Barker and A Thousand Ships(2019) by Natalie Haynes. Acritical comparison between hersources intheclassical tradition and how her role and feelings as a slave are reinterpreted in these feminist refigurationssheds light on the character’s identitarian essenceand her past and present function.
