    Los libros impresos y manuscritos realizados por la Congregación del Oratorio de San Felipe Neri son testimonio cultural de su época y del grupo religioso que los consumía. La investigación de las imágenes de esos impresos se organiza en una mención de elementos esenciales para el estudio de la imagen en el libro antiguo; un breve contexto histórico del Oratorio, y la ubicación de dos momentos de la producción editorial de la Congregación, a partir del repertorio de impresos localizados en la Biblioteca Nacional de México. Se analizarán la imagen ornamental (específicamente los casos de la imagen comodín, la que se aplica como ajuste de composición tipográfica y un ejemplo particular de uso de marca tipográfica), así como las imágenes narrativas.

    The printed books and manuscripts produced by the Congregation of the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri in Mexico City are a cultural testimony of their time and of the religious community for which they were produced. Our research into the images contained in the printed works is guided by a relation of basic elements essential for the study of images in premodern books, a brief historical and contextual account of the Oratory, and the identification of two moments in the Congregation’s editorial production based on the catalogue of the National Library of Mexico repository. We also analyze the ornamental images (specifically the safe image–a figure used as a typesetting adjustment–and an example of the use of a typographic mark) and likewise the narrative images.
