    El objetivo de esta investigación se centra en el análisis de indicadores estadísticos relacionados con la población de San Miguelito en el período 2006-2015, de forma tal que se pueda evidenciar tendencias en las series de indicadores que a su vez permitan proyectar futuros comportamientos de estas variables. El análisis de tendencias puede contribuir de manera significativa en el desarrollo de programas y estrategias públicas.

    El estudio se basa en información cuantitativa de fuentes secundarias, recopilada de fuentes oficiales, como lo son Ministerio de Salud y Contraloría General de la República.

    Entre los resultados más importantes que se pueden destacar están: un importante crecimiento poblacional, particularmente el corregimiento Rufina Alfaro, un importante número de su población vive con ingresos mensuales inferiores a 250 balboas, sólo el 19% logra un ingreso superior a mil balboas. En este distrito, es necesario prestar atención a la deserción escolar y continuar vigilando los índices de personas con Sida, si bien es cierto la tendencia es a disminuir, aún el número de casos por año es significativo.

    The objective of this research focuses on the analysis of statistical indicators related to the population of San Miguelito in the period 2006-20015, in such a way that trends can be evidenced in the series of indicators that in turn allow to project future behaviors of these variables. The analysis of trends can contribute significantly in the development of public programs and strategies.

    The study is based on quantitative information from secondary sources, compiled from official sources, such as the Ministry of Health and the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic.

    Among the most important results that can be highlighted are: significant population growth, particularly the township Rufina Alfaro, a significant number of its population lives with monthly incomes of less than 250 balboas, only 19% achieve an income of more than 1,000 balboas. In this district, it is necessary to pay attention to school dropouts and continue monitoring the rates of people with AIDS, although it is true that the trend is to decrease, even the number of cases per year is significant.
