Los costarricenses, hemos sido omisos ante los hechos incestuosos. Aun hoyes un tema tabú que suele silenciamos y por ende a veces quedan impunes. Cuando de investigación se trata, la cruda realidad es que la información es escueta, por lo que nos vimos obligados a acudir a la razón y a la experiencia de la humanidad en dicho campo, así como de nuestros despachos judiciales. El incesto es un crimen y constituye un abuso real en una relación de poder. De esta manera se dirá que el perpetrador puede ser un padre, padrastro, madre, abuelo, tío, hermanos, primos, sobrinos, etc. Pero se pretenderá dejar las bases para que esta terminología se pueda ampliar mas allá de la existencia del parentesco en línea directa.

In Costa Rica, we have been omitted before acts of incest. For example, today it is still a taboo issue that keeps us in silence and that is part of the reason why this crime is still without punishment. When we investigate this topic, we find a hard reality: we do not have statistics; which is why we have to use the experiences of other people and our experience in the judicial bureau. Incest is a crime and a definite abuse in a relationship of power. In this manner, we are going to say that the perpetrator could be the father, stepfather, mother, grandpa, uncle, brothers, cousins, nephews, etc. In this essay we give the guidelines to extend this terminology and extend it to the existing familiar line of direct relatives.
