Tres veces víctimas: la tragedia de Guayabo de Bagaces

    El 21 de febrero del 2000, cuatro estudiantes de secundaria fallecieron y treinta y siete menores resultaron lesionados, en el hecho de tránsito acaecido en La Fortuna de Bagaces, Guanacaste. Desde la perspectiva victimológica: los graves traumas y los psicotraumas de los padres que sobrevivieron a sus hijos, así como del resto de los afectados y sus familias, fue de enormes proporciones, que aún persisten y afectan a esta comunidad. Todos ellos fueron víctimas de lo acontecido ese trágico día, pero además han sido revictimizados dos veces: en el proceso penal que tardó más de dos años y en la fase de ejecución de sentencia que se tramita todavía. Las consecuencias psicológicas de este hecho y su tratamiento jurisprudencial se exponen en este artículo.

    On February 21st, 2000, 4 high school students died and 37 minors were injured in a car accident in La Fortuna, Bagaces, Guanacaste. From the victim’s logical optic: the serious traumas and psycotraumas of the surviving parents, and the rest of their relatives, was of enormous proportions, that yet subsist and affect this community. All of them were victims of the events and the tragedies of that day, but they are revictimized twice: in the penal process that delayed more than two years and in facing the execution of the sentence which is still in process. The psychological consequences of this act and the jurisprudential treatment are exposed in this essay.
