    El presente artículo tiene como objetivo principal analizar la transformación de ambientes en el pasado. Se enmarca en el territorio sanjuanino como perteneciente al reino de Chile, entre los primeros años y mediados del siglo XVIII. El agente de análisis es la Compañía de Jesús; que es conocida por su labor educativa, económica y social en América, pero que en este caso se enfoca, por una parte, en el impacto causado en su entorno para satisfacer sus distintas necesidades y por otra, en la imposición de una nueva forma de vida, donde quedan plasmados sus intereses y vinculaciones con el poder.

    El abordaje se realizará desde el concepto de “Paisaje”, entendido no sólo como un medio físico, sino también como una construcción social y cultural, que se modifica a través del tiempo. Por ello es preciso analizarlo desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar, dejando de lado el uso del método único y exclusivo de una historia que se sustentó solamente en fuentes escritas.

     Para llevarlo a cabo se han examinado estudios realizados sobre ocupación y explotación del espacio (Acosta, 2004; Fanchin y Burgues, 1987; Fanchin, 2008; Fanchin y Sánchez, 2016) y específicamente referidos a la instalación de la orden en la jurisdicción.

    The main objective of this article is to analyze the transformation of environments in the past. It is framed in the San Juan territory as belonging to the kingdom of Chile, between the early and mideighteenth century. The agent of analysis is the Company of Jesus, which is known for its educational, economic, and social work in America, but in this case, it focuses on the one hand, on the impact caused in its environment to satisfy its different needs and, on the other hand, on the imposition of a new way of life, where its interests and relations with power are reflected.

     The approach will be based on the concept of "Landscape", understood not only as a physical environment, but also as a social and cultural construction, which is modified over time. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze it from an interdisciplinary perspective, leaving aside the use of the unique and exclusive method of a history based only on written sources.

    To carry it out, studies related to occupation and exploitation of space have been examined (Acosta, 2004; Fanchin and Burgues, 1987; Fanchin and Sanchez, 2016) and specifically referred to the installation of the order in the jurisdiction.
