Climate sustainability requires new forms of solidarity that encompass all inhabitants of the planet, including future generations.
This paper focuses on the intergenerational dimension of solidarity, aiming to understand how recent literature addresses concerns for future generations and identifies mechanisms that foster this solidarity. We explore various approaches to intergenerational climate solidarity (ICS).
Our findings highlight the importance of individual motives, situational factors, relational dynamics, and cultural influences in shaping ICS.
Understanding these micro-level processes is crucial for informing the development of effective policies aimed at mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and promoting climate sustainability on a global scale.
