    El temor del adulto mayor en la actualidad es una problemática a nivel mundial y nacional, el virus afecta sin excepción alguna a toda la población, sin embargo, existe grupos con mayor grado de vulnerabilidad siendo propensos al contagio, tal es el caso de los adultos mayores quienes son los más perjudicados por sus condiciones propias que han llevado al aislamiento y distanciamiento social, con el fin de prevenir enfermedades frente a la pandemia. Como objetivo del estudio se buscó analizar el temor del adulto mayor frente al COVID-19 y su relación con los medios de comunicación informales en la comunidad de Sinincay de la Ciudad de Cuenca-Ecuador. El enfoque de la investigación fue cualitativo, con la utilización del método descriptivo, para la recolección de información se aplicó entrevistas semiestructuradas mediante llamadas telefónicas. La investigación se realizó sobre el total de la población 20 adultos mayores. Como resultado de la investigación se determinó que los adultos mayores sienten temor del virus, más aún cuando los medios de comunicación emiten información falsa, interfiriendo en la salud y en su vida cotidiana.

    The fear of the elderly is currently a problem at the global and national level, the virus affects the entire population without exception, however, there are groups with a higher degree of vulnerability being prone to contagion, such is the case of adults Older people who are the most affected by their own conditions have led to isolation and social distancing in order to prevent diseases in the face of the pandemic. The objective of the study is to analyze the fear of the elderly against COVID-19 and their relationship with the informal media in the Sinincay community of the City of Cuenca. The research approach was qualitative with the use of the descriptive method, for the collection of information a semi-structured interview was carried out through telephone calls. The research was carried out on the total population of 20 older adults. As a result of the investigation, it was determined that older adults were afraid of the virus, even more so when the media broadcast untrue information, thereby causing health problems affecting their daily lives
