  • Objective: To report on the experience of medical students in carrying out preventive examinations on women deprived of their liberty. Methodology: This is a descriptive study based on the experience of five students in the teaching-service-community integration IV course. Results: Active listening was essential in enabling us to understand the realities and complaints of these women. The activity made it possible to observe that incarcerated women often have a history of sexually transmitted diseases and low socioeconomic and educational levels. It also highlighted the barriers encountered in implementing preventive health measures in the prison context. Conclusion: The experience made it possible to observe the reality of the social vulnerability of women deprived of their liberty. It also provided us with personal growth and better adherence to the teaching-learning process, in order to implement effective health promotion and prevention actions in post-academic practice.
