    El artículo estudia la institucionalización de la formación del profesorado disciplinar de historia en el sistema educativo chileno, en un contexto de expansión de la enseñanza secundaria pública durante la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Su objetivo es examinar los orígenes de la profesión docente especializada en la enseñanza de historia, en momentos fundacionales de su trayectoria histórica como cuerpo docente disciplinar, con especial énfasis en sus inicios en el Instituto Pedagógico. En base a un diseño metodológico de carácter histórico, bibliográfico y documental, el estudio postula y argumenta que el impulso fundacional del profesorado de historia y geografía encuentra sus soportes en las exigencias formativas del plan de enseñanza humanista que se instituyó para el liceo chileno, desde la década del 40 del siglo XIX, y en una discursividad favorecedora de una formación docente especializada promovida por educacionistas decimonónicos

    This article studies the institutionalization of disciplinary history teacher training in the Chilean educational system, in the context of the expansion of public secondary education during the second half of the nineteenth century. Its aim is to examine the origins of the teaching profession specialized in the teaching of history, at foundational moments of its historical trajectory as a disciplinary teaching body, with special emphasis on its beginnings at the Instituto Pedagógico. Based on a historical, bibliographical and documentary methodological design, the study postulates and ar-gues that the foundational impulse of the history teaching profession is based on the formative demands of the humanistic teaching plan that was instituted for the Chilean 92Atenea 528II Sem. 2023high school, since the 40’s of the 19th century, and on a discursivity favoring a special-ized teacher training promoted by nineteenth-century educationists
