    Este artículo se articula en torno a un poemario central en la primera etapa de la producción poética de Claribel Alegría, correspondiente a la obra escrita principalmente en los años setenta. Se trata de Raíces (1973-75), poemario que fue publicado por primera vez en la Antología preparada en 1981 por Mario Benedetti en España, Suma y sigue, y que el tiempo ha situado como una obra no solamente raigal sino condensadora de las directrices temáticas y de la expresividad estilística de la poeta centroamericana, que muy poco después será consagrada con la obtención del Premio Casa de las Américas, en Cuba, conel poemario Sobrevivo (1978), cerrando así la primera fase de una larga trayectoria que se cerrará con la obtención del Premio Reina Sofía de Poesía Iberoamericana en 2017.

    This article is structured around a central work in the first stage of Claribel Alegría’s poetic production, corresponding to the work written mainly in the seventies.: Raíces (1973-75) is a collection of poems that was published for the first time in the Anthology prepared in 1981 by Mario Benedetti in Spain, Suma y sigue, and that time has positioned as a work that is not only hightly representative of her poetic point of view but also a condenser of the guidelinesthemes and the stylistic expressiveness of the Central American poet, who very shortly after will be consecrated with the award of the Casa de las Américas Prize, in Cuba, with the collection of poems Sobrevivo (1978), thus closing the first phase of a long career that will close with obtaining the Reina Sofía Prize for Ibero-American Poetry in 2017.
