    El propósito de la investigación es caracterizar la estructura diamétrica del bosque de manglar ubicado en la desembocadura del río Unare en el estado Anzoátegui. Se asumió bajo un diseño de campo y enmarcado en el nivel descriptivo, ejecutado en dos fases: (a) campo, a fin de registrar los parámetros estructurales de los manglares, y (b) análisis estadístico, para estimar la altura, diámetro, frecuencia diamétrica y estratificación, cobertura y área basal. Se concluye que: (a) en general, evolutivamente corresponde al estado brinzal, (b) se evidencian diferencias significativas entre las parcelas, lo que permite afirmar que el manglar más próximo a la desembocadura del rio presenta evidencias de un ciclo de evolución más complejo que aquellos individuos que se encuentran más alejados, y (c) el bosque se encuentra en un estado de desarrollo similar al reportado en otro estudio para el sector de Boca de Uchire.

    The purpose of the research was to characterize the diameter structure of the mangrove forest located at the mouth of the Unare river in the state of Anzoátegui. In this sense, it was assumed as a quantitative study, under a field design and framed in the descriptive level, executed in two phases: (a) field, in order to register the structural parameters of the mangroves, and (b) statistical analysis, to estimate the height, diameter, diametric frequency and stratification of the individuals, cover and basal area. It is concluded that: (a) the forest is evolving in the sapling stage, (b) when contrasting the variables under study, there are significant differences between the plots, which allows us to affirm that the mangrove closer to the mouth of the river shows evidence of a more complex evolution cycle than those individuals that are farther away, and (c) the forest under study is in a similar stage of development to that reported in another study for the Boca de Uchire sector
