  Las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación en el ámbito de la educación han dado paso a nuevas formas de aprender y de enseñar, una de estas alternativas innovadoras son los cursos en línea, masivos y abiertos. La implementación de estos cursos trae consigo nuevos retos que deben ser enfrentados por los estudiantes, los docentes y las instituciones educativas. Se realizó un estudio sobre las características, tipos y ventajas de estos cursos enla educación. El objetivo del trabajo es identificar retos que deben ser vencidos para la implementación de estos cursos en la educación superior cubana.

  The Information and Communication Technologies in the field of education have given way to new ways of learning and teaching, one of these innovative alternatives is massive open online courses. The implementation of these courses brings with it new challenges that must be faced by students, teachers and educational institutions. A study was carried out on the characteristics, types and advantages of these courses in education. The objective of thework is to identify challenges that must be overcome for the implementation of these courses in cuban higher education.
