    Se defiende en el artículo, siguiendo los pasos de Agustín García Calvo, una interpretación rítmica del metro jónico que difiere sensiblemente de la comúnmente aceptada en los manuales de métrica griega y romana. Al mismo tiempo, se insiste en general en la importancia de distinguir siempre entre el esquema prosódico de un verso determinado y los valores duracionales que esas sílabas tendrían en la ejecución real del verso, ya fuera recitado o cantado; en el caso del metro jónico, se argumenta, esta distinción es vital para su buen entendimiento.

    The article defends, following in the footsteps of Agustín García Calvo, a rhythmic interpretation of Ionic meter that differs significantly from the one commonly accepted in handbooks of Greek and Roman meter. At the same time, the importance of always distinguishing between the prosodic scheme of a given verse and the durational values that those syllables would have in the actual execution of the verse (whether recited or sung) is generally insisted upon; in the case of Ionic meter, it is argued, this distinction is vital for its proper understanding.
