    Este estudio, inserto en el marco de la Lingüística Cognitiva, explora los términos anatómicos ῥάχις ‘espinazo’, ἀνθερεών ‘mentón’ y γλῶττα ‘lengua’ con el objetivo de identificar las metáforas conceptuales subyacentes. Para ello, tras precisar el referente anatómico al que aludía en griego antiguo cada uno de estos términos, se analizará su desarrollo metafórico a partir de la noción de «puntiagudo» presente en elementos como espinos o espigas, evidenciando así el papel de la metáfora de imagen en la creación del léxico anatómico en la lengua griega.

    This study explores, within the framework of Cognitive Linguistics, the anatomical terms ῥάχις ‘spine’, ἀνθερεών ‘chin’ and γλῶττα ‘tongue’ in order to identify the underlying conceptual metaphors. To achieve this, we will begin by elucidating the anatomical references to which each of these terms alluded in ancient Greek. Subsequently, we will analyse their metaphorical development, drawing from the concept of “pointedness” found in elements such as thorns or ears. This analysis will shed light on the pivotal role of image metaphors in shaping the lexicon of anatomical terms in the Greek language.
