  • Objective: This study delves into the historical characteristics and artistic value of Ming Dynasty stone carving calligraphy, focusing on the analysis of Shanxi stone carving calligraphy. The Ming Dynasty, a pivotal era in Chinese calligraphy, saw the emergence of stone carving calligraphy as a distinctive form, leaving a rich artistic legacy in Shanxi. Method: Tracing its origin and development, this paper explores the relationship between stone carving calligraphy and the social and cultural context of the Ming Dynasty. Through in-depth analysis of Shanxi stone carving calligraphy cases, distinctive features such as stroke strength, structural arrangement, and character form are uncovered. The study emphasizes the artistic significance of Ming Dynasty stone carving calligraphy, discussing its role in cultural heritage and artistic innovation. Result and Conclusion: This art not only reflected the unique qualities of calligraphy in its time but also extended calligraphic heritage through stone carving, significantly influencing later calligraphy development. The comparative research results provide insights into the historical evolution of Ming Dynasty stone carving calligraphy, contributing to a broader understanding of Ming Dynasty calligraphy history and serving as a valuable reference for future academic research in related fields.
