Se describen los cangrejos decápodos que habitan el delta del río Ranchería, cerca a Riohacha (La Guajira), y su área de influencia. Se hace una revisión de la información sobre la historia natural de las especies (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura) que fueron encontradas y su abundancia en los diferentes hábitats. Se encontraron 11 especies pertenecientes a 6 familias, de las cuales las más abundantes fueron Cardisoma guanhumi, Grapsus grapsus y Ocypode quadrata. Se encontró que el género Callinectes está ampliamente distribuido en diferentes habitats. Por último, se registra una captura de Paracyclois atlantis, lo cual se considera excepcional en el área de estudio.
This article describes the decapod crabs that inhabit the Rio Ranchería Delta near the city of Riohacha (La Guajira) and its influence area. A revision on the natural history of the species (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura) found in the different habitats and their abundance was carried out. They were 11 species of crabs belonging to 6 families, the most abundant being Cardisoma guanhumi, Grapsus grapsus and Ocypode quadrata. The Callinectes genus is broadly distributed in different habitats. Lastly, a Paracyclois atlantis specimen was captured, considered an exceptional find in the study area.
