    • Consideration of culture as a sign system of a high degree of complexity is essential for understanding its various phenomena. The study of cultural languages, including architecture, is necessary to understand their value meanings. It becomes relevant not only knowledge of the intellectual heritage, but also its creative use in a different socio-cultural space and time. Communication has a universal meaning, which is revealed in a specific geographical, historical, socio-cultural, economic, information space. Continuity, as a structure for keeping the past in the present, as a way of overcoming time, relies on its own historical memory. And memory contributes to the formation and maintenance of collective and personal identity. Domestic avant-garde architecture and the architecture of modernism in Western Europe had a revolutionary significance for the creation of a completely new aesthetics, a new type of specialist in artistic design.A significant contribution to the formation of the avant-garde was made by the Odessa Art School - a unique creative center, a school of traditions and innovation, which brought up a number of outstanding personalities, masters of architecture - G. Vesnin, B. Iofan, M. Minkus, M. Sinyavsky, N. Sokolov, Ya. Chernikhov and many others.
