In the study of LatinAmerican politics, the rational-choice variant of this approach hasbeen on the advance in recent years. These investigations commonlyfocus on the input side of politics. Many authors have analyzedelectoral rules and their impact on party systems. Presidents'constitutional attributions and interactions with Congress have alsoattracted considerable attention. By contrast, the output side ofpolitics, especially policy-making and program implementation, has been neglected.
