During the centuries of Modern Age, the court messenger was a fundamental occupation in the relations between the municipalities and the crown, and to a greater extent when these local administrations were far from the court, or directly outside the Castilian Iberian Peninsula. For this reason, this study analyzes the figure of the court messenger as a representative of the royal municipal councils in the Canary Islands, with special emphasis on the council of La Palma during the reign of Philip II. For this purpose, the primary source used is the Libros de Acuerdos of the council of La Palma between 1554 and 1599.
