    Este artículo da seguimiento a la nominación que los garínagu beliceños hicieran para incluir a su lengua, la música, la danza y la oralidad en la candidatura de pieza maestra de la humanidad impulsada por la Organización de Naciones Unidas para la Educación la Ciencia y la Cultura (Unesco, siglas en inglés). Para ello se recoge previo, las preocupaciones de esta organización supranacional y el recorrido de la nominación por la nación garífuna y posteriormente por los estados-nación donde se localizan asentados como grupo. Diversas preguntas de fondo se van construyendo desde el inicio, buscando problematizar sobre el por qué y eficacia de las nominaciones, abonando con ello la mirada analítica del ejercicio de la implementación de políticas nacionales una vez la nominación fue lograda. Este trabajo deja entrever acciones irresponsables y hasta racistas de los Estados-nación, obliga a revisar las nociones de patrimonialismo y patrimonialización, una como ejercicio de significado, la otra como un bien de gestión. El estudio, pone particular interés en el caso de Guatemala, en lo relativo al análisis de las acciones del Estado como contraparte de las nominaciones; la observación y entrevistas abiertas, así como una revisión de literatura, y el ser participe coyuntural de algunos eventos constituyen las líneas metodológica de este trabajo.

    This article follows the nomination that the Belizean Garífuna made to include their language, music, danceand orality to the candidacy of a masterpiece of humanity promoted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco). To this end, it includes the concerns of this supranational organization and the route of the nomination by the Garífuna nation and later by the nation-states where they are located as a group. Several fundamental questions are being constructed from the beginning, looking to problematize about the why and effectiveness of the nominations, paying with it the analytical look of the exercise of the implementation of national policies once the nomination was achieved. This work suggests irresponsible and even racist actions of nation-states, requires revising the notions of patrimonialism and patrimonialization, one as an exercise of meaning, the other as a management good. The study pays particular interest in the case of Guatemala,regarding the analysis of the State’s actions as a counterpart to the nominations; Observation and open interviews, as well as a review of the literature, and the fact that some of the events are part of the current events constitute the methodological lines of this work.
