Resumen de De España a Roma: pecadores contra natura en busca de la clemencia papal

Desde la década de los ochenta del pasado siglo hasta nuestros días, la historiografía española ha ido ampliando la batería de trabajos sobre comportamientos sexuales, tales como la sodomía y el bestialismo. No obstante, el peso de esta temática es todavía escaso y muchas son las preguntas, así como las aproximaciones, que se pueden plantear a estos temas. En este sentido, la presente comunicación pretende aproximarse a estos dos comportamientos sexuales a partir de una perspectiva novedosa: la huida de España a Roma de un grupo de súbditos de la Monarquía implicados en estos delitos. La relativa rigidez doctrinal de la justicia, eclesiástica y civil, española dibujaría un escenario poco esperanzador para quienes cometieran estas prácticas sexuales. Por ello, la voluntad de eludir un castigo severo llevaría a estos individuos a las puertas de la Inquisición romana, con la esperanza de conseguir un trato jurídico más benévolo que el ofrecido en sus tierras natales. De este modo, sus acciones quedaban teóricamente resueltas ante los tribunales españoles, ofreciendo la posibilidad de retornar a su lugar de origen. Con el motivo de contextualizar estas fugas, pretendo conocer el perfil de los implicados y las circunstancias de su huida.

From the eighties of the previous century to our current days, Spanish historio-graphy has been widening the available research about sexual behaviour such as sodomy and bestiality. Nevertheless, the awareness regarding this matter is scarce still and many are the questions, as well as the approaches, that this matter can present. Regarding this, the present paper aims to approach to both of these sexual behaviours from a new perspective: the escape from Spain to Rome of a contingent of Monarchy subjects embroiled in these crimes. The relative doctrinal severity of Spanish justice, ecclesiastical and civil, would portray quite a discouraging scenario for those who committed such sexual practices. Therefore, their willingness to dodge a strict sanction would lead these individuals to the gates of the Roman Inquisition, in hopes of finding a more indulgent legal handling than the one provided in their homeland. Thus, their acts were theoretically solved before Spanish courts, offering the chance to go back to their place of origin. To contextualise these escapes, I aim to know the profile of the escapees and the situation of their escape.
