Desmotivación estudiantil en educación media general y vocación por cursar estudios universitarios en áreas científicas

    La presente investigación aborda la desmotivación estudiantil hacia las carreras científicas en educación media general y las causas de esta falta de vocación por cursar estudios universitarios en áreas científicas. El objetivo fue identificar dichas causas en la Unidad Educativa Privada Colegio “Madre Rafols” de Valera, Estado Trujillo, Venezuela. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo con enfoque cuantitativo, aplicando una encuesta a una muestra de 30 estudiantes de 5toaño de secundaria. Los resultados evidenciaron un bajo interés (2%) por carreras en ciencias exactas y naturales, debido a la percepción de dificultad, estereotipos negativos y baja rentabilidad económica. Si bien los docentes implementan estrategias como resolución de ejercicios, prácticas de laboratorio y proyectos científicos, estas no generan suficiente motivación. Los estudiantes consideran necesario implementar más estrategias con medios tecnológicos. Se concluye que los docentes deben estar motivados, ser críticos y reflexivos para promover ambientes creativos que integren ciencia, tecnología y sociedad, mejorando la visión deformada de las ciencias y fortaleciendo el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje.

    This research addresses the lack of student motivation towards scientific careers in general secondary education and the causes of this lack of vocation to pursue university studies in scientific areas. The objective was to identify these causes at the Private Educational Unit “Madre Rafols” High School in Valera, Trujillo State, Venezuela. A descriptive study with a quantitative approach was conducted, applying a survey to a sample of 30, 5thyear high school students. The results showed a low interest (2%) in careers in exact and natural sciences, due to the perception of difficulty, negative stereotypes, and low economic profitability. Although teachers implement strategies such as problem-solving, laboratory practices, and scientific projects, these do not generate sufficient motivation. Students consider it necessary to implement more strategies with technological means. It is concluded that teachers must be motivated, critical, and reflective to promote creative environments that integrate science, technology, and society, improving the distorted vision of sciencesand strengthening the teaching-learning process.
