Investigating the role of music behavior and pedagogical strategies in student attitudes: Tuning into learning

    • Purpose: This research aims to explore the existing relationship of student-teacher relationship with pedagogical value of using songs and learning attitudes of students. Moreover, this research used the pedagogical value of using songs as a mediating variable and students’ music behavior as a moderating variable among the relationship of student-teacher relationship and students learning attitudes. Method: This research collected data from 239 students enrolled in various academic programs within arts colleges in Saudi Arabia. To achieve the aim of this research this study has employed the WarpPLS 8.0 software with Warp and SEM (structural equation modeling) approaches. Findings: Findings of this research have shown a significant association between direct relationships of student-teacher relationship and students learning attitudes. Moreover, a significant relationship was also found among student-teacher relationship and pedagogical value of using songs. The findings also confirmed that the relationship between student-teacher relationship and students learning attitudes is also moderated by students’ music behavior and mediated by pedagogical value of using songs. Originality/Implications: This research increased comprehension of arts education students’ outcomes and performance. The results reveal that teachers must adopt novel strategies and create strong relationships with students to improve learning attitudes. The research also shows that music behavior among learners affects teacher-student relationship and learning attitudes.
