El cóccix es el pequeño hueso ubicado al final de la columna vertebral fusionado con el sacro. Los trastornos de esta región incluyen traumatismos, dolor, infecciones, quistes y tumores. Las fracturas no son frecuentes, pero provocan hematomas y distensión de los ligamentos. Una caída hacia atrás sobre una superficie dura es la causa más común de estos traumatismos. Los síntomas por contusión del cóccix incluyen dolor en el área del hueso y dolor en la sedestación.

The coccyx is the small bone located at the end of the spine fused with the sacrum. Disorders of this region include trauma, pain, infections, cysts, and tumors. Fractures are not common, but they cause bruising and strain of the ligaments. A fall backwards onto a hard surface is the most common cause of these traumas. Symptoms of a tailbone bruise include pain in the area of the bone and pain when sitting.
