  En la medida que se ha ido aceptando la importancia de la salud mental infantil como parte fundamental del desarrollo integral del individuo, la atención psiquiátrica infanto-juvenil se ha ido incrementando notablemente en los últimos años. Sin embargo, en Chile se dispone de pocos antecedentes de este tipo de atención. La presente investigación representa un aporte en este campo, referido al análisis de la consulta psiquiátrica infantil y de adolescencia en un Servicio de Salud Regional de Chile.

  According to the importance of the acceptation given to mental health in infants as a fundamental part of the integral development of individuals, the pediatric care of children and youngsters has been manifestly increased during the last years. Notwithstanding, only scarce antecedents are available in Chile on this class of medical care. This article is a contribution to this field, addressed to the analysis of the attention of psychiatry to infants and adolescents in a Regional Health Service in Chile.
