Resumen de Tratamiento abreviado de la tuberculosis: experiencia en un consultorio periférico

  • 36 records of patients with tuberculosis from Consultorio Santa Anita (West Area of Santiago, Chile) were revised.The group of study was compound by 18 women and 18 men ages to 14 to 65 and over. 75% out of the total presented tuberculosis of the lungs and 25% tuberculosis of the other localizations.The following conclusions were drawn:1. Abbreviated treatment is widely accepted andfollowed in Consultorio Santa Anita.2. Positive attitudes of patients towards short-term treatment were observed.3. Alcoholism is a factor leading to poor compliance, being the direct cause of dropout in 2 cases.4. A low rate of adverse side effects was observed among patients following short-term scheme of treatment.
