  • A short history of the European measures for tobacco control is presented. In 2003, the Framework Agreement on this matter was approved in the World Health Assembly. The Minister of Health of Chile signed the Agreement in the same year and the Chilean Parliament has given its approval to the ratifi- cation of the Treatise. The reduction of tobacco consumption is one of the 2000-2010 Health Targets of the country. The author, an MP, summarizes the current discussion of the bill on Consumption, Commercialization and Publicity of Tobacco.
