Numerous studies have examined the significant role of cognitive skills in children’s learning, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. The study aimed to assess the validity of the Primary Battery (Level 1) of the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAt7) for Saudi children. Methodology: The sample comprised 300 children drawn randomly from 15 kindergartens in Alahsa Saudi Arabia during the 2021–2022 school year. Findings: The study’s results showed the CogAt has high coefficients of validity and reliability. Boys significantly outperformed girls in both the quantitative and non-verbal tests, where there were statistically significant differences between the genders, while girls outperformed boys in the verbal test. The quantitative and non-verbal tests also revealed statistically significant differences between kids according to the type of kindergarten, favoring international kindergartens. The results show that CogAt is a useful tool for assessing the cognitive abilities of children in Saudi Arabia. Implications:The current study sought to build a multi-dimensional group test (but also to be applied individually) that measures the cognitive ability of kindergarten children and measures how easily they solve problems or how quickly they learn through the use of standard comparisons, specifically comparing children with others who have comparable opportunities to learn.
