Resumen de La primera guerra carlista en el valle de Guriezo

El presente trabajo es un compendio de información sobre la Primera Guerra Carlista en el Valle de Guriezo. El objetivo es dar visibilidad a un periodo poco conocido de la historia local y poner en valor los sucesos acontecidos. Para ello, se han consultado numerosos periódicos en la Hemeroteca Digital de la Biblioteca Nacional de España y en la Biblioteca Virtual de Prensa Histórica. También se han consultado documentos en el Archivo Foral de Bizkaia, en el Archivo Histórico Provincial de Cantabria y en el Archivo Municipal del Ayuntamiento de Guriezo, así como abundante bibliografía de otros autores. En el trabajo se pone de manifiesto la relevancia estratégica que tuvo Guriezo durante la guerra. Además, se incluyen fotografías de un mortero producido en la fábrica de La Merced y de los posibles vestigios del fuerte de San Vicente. Futuros estudios arqueológicos en la zona podrán aportar más información al respecto

This paper is a compilation of information of the First Carlist War in Guriezo Valley. The aim is to shed light on a quite unknown historical period and to highlight the events occurred. To do so, many newspaper have been thoroughly reviewed in the Digital Newspaper Archive of the Spanish National Library and in the Historical Press Digital Library. Furthermore, other documents have been consulted in the Regional Archive of Biscay, in the Regional Historical Archive of Cantabria and in the Municipal Archive of the Townhall of Guriezo, together with bibliography from other authors. The paper stresses the strategy importance of Guriezo during the war. Moreover, photographies of a mortar built in La Merced factory have been included as well as images of the remains of San Vicente´s military fort. Further archeological studies in this area could come up more information in regard to this topic
