Resumen de Heráldica y masonería: el caso del escudo municipal de La Orotava

  A finales del siglo XIX en La Orotava (Tenerife, Islas Canarias), la nueva logia Taoro 90 obtuvo la autorización necesaria para conformarse, repartir responsabilidades entre sus miembros y crear los distintivos que iban a utilizar a partir de ese momento. Así, la logia orotavense diseñó desde su creación un emblema oficial compuesto por una combinación de un drago, un dragón de siete cabezas y un triángulo radiado, que tomaba elementos del mito del Jardín de las Hespérides, aunque con una mirada local. Lo singular de este caso, es que el escudo municipal de La Orotava de 1905 utilizó el mismo esquema simbólico que unos treinta años antes había empleado ya Taoro 90 para crear su propio símbolo como sociedad privada, por lo que se plantea la pregunta de si existe relación entre ambas enseñas y qué grado. En este trabajo se analiza esa posible conexión entre ambos elementos simbólicos, estableciendo los lazos que la documentación permite inferir.

  At the end of the 19th century in La Orotava (Tenerife, Canary Islands), the new Taoro 90 lodge obtained the necessary authorization to form itself, distribute responsibilities among its members and create the badges that they were going to use from that moment on. Thus, from its creation, the Orotaven lodge designed an official emblem composed of a combination of a dragon tree, a seven-headed dragon and a radiating triangle, which took elements from the myth of the Garden of the Hesperides, although with a local look. The unique thing about this case is that the municipal shield of La Orotava from 1905 used the same symbolic scheme that Taoro 90 had already used some thirty years before to create its own symbol as a private society, which raises the question of whether it exists relationship between both teachings and what degree. In this work, this possible connection between both symbolic elements is analyzed, establishing the links that the documentation allows to infer.
