Motivation is a key aspect in the educational process, as it is a relevant factor in learning. This research aims to analyse the incidence of motivation as an influential factor in academic performance in the rural educational context of an educational unit in the Amazon region. The research process was framed in the empirical inductive or quantitative approach based on the postulates of positivism, the design corresponds to a non-experimental cross-sectional study and the scope is descriptive correlational. The information was collected using a questionnaire to measure the level of motivation and academic performance was established using the students' average marks for each term. The population consisted of 20 teachers and 60 students, who constituted the sample of the study. The subjects belonged to an Intercultural Bilingual Community Educational Unit in the Amazon. The results showed that the academic performance reaches the required learning (AAR), while the level of motivation registered is moderate. When correlating the variables, a low and statistically significant relationship was evidenced. It can be concluded that in this study motivation has little influence on students' academic performance, and that students' interest is reduced to meeting the minimum requirements to avoid failing the subjects, which suggests that the priority motivations are focused on other subjects, and that the students' interest is reduced to meeting the minimum requirements to avoid failing the subjects, which suggests that the priority motivations are focused on other subjects, which suggests that the priority motivations are focused on other subjects.
