    The understanding of systems comes from a long discussion since the beginning of societies, thus, epistemologically observed in geographic science the concern with the understanding and insertion of the General Theory of Systems in Physical Geography for the understanding of Hydrology, Geomorphology and of Hydrogeomorphology. This article sought to theoretically understand, through a bibliographical review, how the systemic approach was used in geographic science, entering the areas of Hydrology and Geomorphology, to understand Hydrogeomorphology. The importance of the systemic approach in understanding the totality was verified, which would not be possible if it were fragmented, as well as the importance of systemic analysis in Hydrogeomorphology, when using potentials and weaknesses.

    A compreensão sobre os sistemas vem de uma longa discussão desde o início das sociedades, deste modo, observa-se epistemologicamente na ciência geográfica a preocupação com o entendimento e inserção da Teoria Geral dos Sistemas na Geografia Física para o entendimento da Hidrologia, da Geomorfologia e da Hidrogeomorfologia. Esse artigo buscou compreender teoricamente, por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica, como a abordagem sistêmica foi empregada na ciência geográfica, adentrando às áreas da Hidrologia e Geomorfologia, para o entendimento da Hidrogeomorfologia. Verificou-se a importância da abordagem sistêmica na compreensão da totalidade, o que não seria possível caso fosse fragmentada, assim como a importância da análise sistêmica na Hidrogeomorfologia, quando se utiliza de potenciais e fragilidades.
