La consideración del cuerpo en la educación humanista: Las actividades físico-lúdicas como medio de transmisión de valores en la literatura pedagógica del Siglo XVI

    No cabe duda de que el nivel de desarrollo de un pueblo viene dado por su mayor o menor inclinación hacia la práctica educativa. Por medio de ella, la comunidad humana es capaz de conservar y transmitir sus peculiaridades físicas y espirituales, de manera que el hombre utiliza para propagar y conservar su forma de existencia social y espiritual las fuerzas que él mismo ha creado, es decir, la voluntad consciente y la razón. Estas fuerzas serán las encargadas de facilitar la aparición y desarrollo en el ser humano de un fenómeno natural, espontáneo, característico de la especie, e identificado como juego, cuya contribución será definitiva en el desarrollo integral y la adaptación del ser humano al medio ambiente durante las primeras edades de su vida. Incluso la propia naturaleza corporal del hombre y sus cualidades psicosomáticas pueden cambiar mediante la utilización consciente de este importante medio educativo, y elevar sus capacidades a un rango superior. Partiendo de estos presupuestos, hemos de convenir en la gran importancia que el juego tiene como elemento transmisor de valores en las primeras edades. Así lo interpretaron ya los humanistas, como veremos a continuación, al asignarle un valor importante en sus tratados pedagógicos.

    There is no doubt that the standard of development in a country is reflected by the greater or lesser inclination towards educational practices. By means of this, the human com-munity is capable of conserving and transmitting their physical and spiritual peculiarities, in such a manner that man uses the strong points which he has created to propagate and conserve his form of social and spiritual existence; which is to say, reason and conscious will.These strong points will be charged with facilitating the appearance and development of a spontaneous, natural phenomenon in humans, characteristic of the species, and identified as playing, whose contribution will be definitive in the integral development and adaptation of the human to its environment during the initial stages of its life. The very corporal nature of man and his psychosomatic qualities may change via the conscious utilisation of this important educative means and elevate his capabilities to a superior range.

    From these estimates, we must agree on the great importance playing has as a means of transmitting values in the initial ages. This is how humanists have interpreted it, as we will see in continuation, when they gave it special credence in their pedagogical essays.
