Aim: To determine the relationship between the CMJ test and the kicking speed of young soccer players.
Methods: The study included 112 players from six clubs in Bogota, DC (age 14.17±0.42 years, height 64.0±9.68 cm, body mass 52.8±9.21 kg), and Peak Height Velocity PHV -0.28±1.0. CMJ (Axon Jump S 2.0 Platform), and the kicking speed test (Smart Coach Radar SR-1100) were evaluated. Descriptive statistics, including mean, standard deviation, and Kolmogórov-Smirnov normality, were performed for the analysis. Besides, a linear regression analysis between the CMJ and kicking speed was plotted. Results: There is a high correlation between CMJ and the kicking speed r= 0.925 (95%CI 0.78-1.38) p≤0.001.
Conclusions: The CMJ as a representation of lower limb power had a significant incidence on maximum kicking speed in the soccer players who participated in this study. The use of soccer-specific tests facilitates the understanding of physiological performance at youth ages.
