Aunado al erotismo y al discurso de la transgresión de las normas morales y sociales, es posible hallar, en la narrativade Juan García Ponce (Mérida, 1932), un elemento sin el cual sería imposible compenetrarse en su visión del erotismo y sus vínculos con el misticismo; se trata del ámbito de lo sagrado. ¿Qué es lo sagrado para este autor? ¿De dónde toma dicho concepto? ¿Cómo se manifiesta en sus creaciones? ¿Cuáles son las relacionesde lo sagrado con el erotismo? En este ensayo no sólo se pretende responder a estas preguntas, sino también -hasta donde sea posible- asociar la obra del escritor mexicano con algunas propuestas del pensamiento religioso universal.

In addition to eroticism and the discourse of transgression to moral and social rules, it is possible to find, in the narrative of juan Garda Ponce (Merida, 1932), an element whose absence would make impossible the entire comprehension of his eroticism'svision and its bonds with mysticism: the contour of the sacred. What is the sacred for this author? Where does he take this concept from? How does it manifest in his creations? Which are the relations between the sacred and eroticism? The author not only intends to answer these questions, but also to associate -to its possible extent- the Mexican writer's work to some proposals in universal religious thought.
