The objective of this study was to assess knowledge about healthy eating and food consumption among adolescents. It is a quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study. Three questionnaires were used for data collection: sociodemographic profile; knowledge about healthy eating; and the E-SUS/MS -online platform of the Unified Health System ofthe State of Mato Grosso do Sul -food consumption marker. The following observations were made: 51.1% of adolescents were male; 77.1% had a family income of less than the minimum wage; 42.0% of fathers reported informal work, and 53.4% of mothers reported being housewives. There was a low level of knowledge about the Ten Steps to Healthy Eating and the degree of food processing. Regarding food consumption, 93.1% reported having consumed beans, 61.1% vegetables, and 42.7% fruits, considered fresh or minimally processed, on the day before the study. Among ultra-processed foods, 56.5% reported consuming sweets, 54.2% reported consuming sweetened drinks, 47.3% reported consuming instant noodles and similar products, and 75.6% reported not consuming sausages. The findings indicate the need to develop food and nutritional education initiatives aimed at improving awareness about healthy eating and its consumption by adolescents.
Objetivou-se avaliar o conhecimento sobre alimentação saudável e o consumo alimentar de adolescentes. Estudo quantitativo, descritivo e transversal. Usou-se três questionários para coleta de dados: perfil sociodemográfico; conhecimento sobre alimentação saudável e o marcador de consumo alimentar do E-SUS/MS. Observou-se que: 51,1% dos adolescentes eram do sexo masculino; 77,1% tinham renda familiar menor que um salário mínimo; 42,0% dos pais relataram trabalho informal e 53,4% das mães referiram serem donas de casa; baixo conhecimento sobre os Dez Passos para Alimentação Saudável e o grau de processamento dos alimentos. 93,1% referiram ter consumido feijão; 61,1% verduras e legumes e 42,7% frutas, considerados in natura ou minimante processados, no dia anterior ao estudo. Dos ultraprocessados, 56,5% referiram o consumo de guloseimas; 54,2% bebidas adoçadas; 47,3% macarrão instantâneo e similares e 75,6% referiram não consumir embutidos. Os achados apontam a necessidade de desenvolver ações de educação alimentar e nutricional, buscando melhorar o conhecimento sobre alimentação saudável e seu consumo por adolescentes.
